Vice -President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has said that plans are underway by the Federal Government to increase the number of beneficiaries of the N-Power scheme from 500,000 to 1,000,000.
He disclosed this on Wednesday at a town hall meeting with the representatives of the 33 communities across Remoland, at the Palace Hall of the Akarigbo of Remoland, in Sagamu.
Osinbajo who was in a company of the APC governorship candidate and his deputy, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojodu, among others, had earlier met with members of the Remo Traditional Council.
The VP said the Scheme, had in no doubt, catered for the 500,000 unemployed youths in which 350,000 out of it were adequately equipped with specialised tablets which contained various skills acquisition training to further boost their knowledge in wealth creation.
Osinbajo explained that other social investment programmes of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administrations such as Tradermoni, Home Grown School Feeding Programme among others.
The VP also added that the huge investment on infrastructure would further attract investors into the country.
” Tackling unemployment is no doubt a major concern to our administration. This is why we commenced N-power, our social investment programme under which 500,000 young Nigerian graduates have benefited with over 350,000 getting tablets stored with various skills acquisition training that could further be of help to them.

” We even have plans to increase beneficiaries of this scheme to 1,000,000. Tradermoni, Marketmoni for our petty traders and home-grown school feeding programmes are all efforts targeted towards reducing the scourge of unemployment in the country,” he said.
He assured the gathering of more federal government presence in Remoland, highlighting that reconstruction work are on going on the Sagamu/Ikorodu road, Sagamu/Benin/Ore expressway.
The VP said effort is on the expansion of Sagamu transmission substation to improve power supply in Remoland and its environs.
During his meeting with the 33 monarchs from Remoland, Osinbajo thanked them for supporting the present government and sought for more cooperation in the elections and beyond.
He said it behoves on him to start the Buhari/Osinbajo re-election campaign from Remoland in particular and Ogun State in general, because of the tremendous support received in 2015.
Oba Ajayi told the monarchs that the VP had promised to consider the interest of Remoland in the scheme of things in the country.
He later commissioned a modern market he built for his home town, Ikenne -Remo and also visited few Nigerians in Sagamu, Ikenne, Iperu to mention but a few.
