The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has commended the team of doctors who treated President Muhammadu Buhari, as he returns from his foreign medical trip but declared that Nigeria, as a nation should redirect her energy to revitalise its health institutions in order that public officials could be medically taken care of in the country.
The congress said it has been proved that Africa is capable of taking care of their presidents, as exemplified by Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa.
In its message to the president, signed by the TUC President, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama, the congress said “The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria heartily welcomes our dear President, Muhammadu Buhari back in the country after his foreign medical trip. While we appreciate your team of doctors and the hospital where you were treated for their expertise, it is important to say that we should redirect our energy to revitalise our health institutions in order that public officials could be medically taken care of in the country.
“We wish the president safe recovery and strength to be able to cope with the demands of his office. We also commend the president for directing that the acting president continues his good works while he takes a deserved rest for accelerated recuperation.”
