The Worshipful the Mayor-elect, Councillor Sunny Lambe, has extended an invitation to a Nigerian journalist, Segun Kasali, for his inauguration on the 17th of May, 2025.
In the letter addressed to Segun Kasali, the Mayor-elect expressed belief that the journalist’s attendance would be an inspiration to all in Southwark, demonstrating the strength of their shared goals and the value of community relationships.
He noted that the event will take place on Saturday, 17 May 2025, at the Southwark Cathedral, London SE1 9BG with the ceremony beginning at 10am.
Lambe described it as an immense honour to have him at the event, where the start of a new chapter in our borough would be celebrated.
According to an official invite, the day will not only be a celebration of his inauguration but also a reflection of the spirit of collaboration and community togetherness that unites.
“I hope this email finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to extend an official invitation for you to join us at Southwark’s Annual Mayor Making Meeting, where I will be officially inaugurated as next Mayor of the London Borough of Southwark.
“The event will take place on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at the Southwark Cathedral, London SE1 9BG with the ceremony beginning at 10am.
“It would be an immense honour to have you at this event, where we will celebrate the start of a new chapter in our borough.
“The day will not only be a celebration of my inauguration but also a reflection of the spirit of collaboration and community togetherness that unites us. I believe your attendance would be an inspiration to all in Southwark, demonstrating the strength of our shared goals and the value of community relationships.

In his reaction to the invitation, Segun described the invitation as a great honour to be a guest at the illustrious event.
He, therefore, urged the Mayor-Elect to use the good office for the betterment of the community.
