TradeFair: Ganduje vows to pursue Economic Development Policy

Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said his administration would continue to be committed in pursuing economic development policy aimed at serving the people in the State.

His words ..” there is a lot of commercial and economic value in creating conducive environment that responds to the needs of the people especially those that have the talent to utilize them.

The Governor gave the assurance on Tuesday , at the occasion of a combined 40th Kano/Zamfara State Special Day International Trade Fair, held at Kano Trade Fair Complex, Zoo road.

Ganduje represented by his Deputy Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna disclosed that for the first time in history, the State had executed a gigantic development project at Kwari Market and created market management board to modernise the largest textile market in West African Sub-region.

“Hence in our attempt to make Kano a mega commercial city, the Government had embarked on the provision of qualitative and robust infrastructure at strategic locations to create a rapid transit system in the city ” he said.

He said ” This Government is replicating same in other selected markets, which will inevitably have positive effect on regeneration of modern business/trades in the State especially the establishment of Business Clinic with a view to diagnosing various business illness across the State for better economic growth at this modern live “.

Dr. Ganduje, however, rejoiced with the success recorded by the State Chamber of Commerce in the past 40 years of staging what he called successful trade fair against all odds, adding that the Chamber also created a strong broad based membership that cut across the Ministry of Commerce.

He further maintained that the State would continue to give all the necessary support to stimulate commercial, Industrial, Cooperative, Solid Minerals and Agricultural Investments in Kano and Nigeria at large.

In his remark, Zamfara State Governor Dr. Bello Mohammed represented by the Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly Alhaji Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya said the main focus of this year’s trade fair is to draw the attention of both local and international investors to the enormous potentials that are available in the various parts of the country.

“We are more committed to participating on fairs and exhibitions considering the fact that our administration has carefully mapped out avenues of reviving the economy which is emerging from years of crisis ” said Bello

Earlier, Kano State Commissioner Ministry of Commerce and industry Alhaji Mahmoud Mohammad Santsi maintained that reflecting on the theme of this year’s fair titled ‘ Promoting Agricultural Value Chain for Nigeria’s Sustainable Economic Development ‘, Kano State Ministry of Commerce had been pursuing programmes aimed at establishing conducive business environment that would ensure productivity and innovation across the State.

The President Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar explained that the special trade fair day was organised for both Kano and Zamfara State to showcase the abundant commercial activities and businesses obtainable in the two sister States.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Higher Commissioner of Bangaladash in Nigeria Mr. Mohammed Shameen Alhassan, Kano State Commissioner Ministry of Women affairs and Social Development Hajiya Dr. Zahra’u Mohammed Umar and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Commerce Zamfara State Alhaji Garba A. Dauran.
