The Are Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba, Chief Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, has conferred the title of Yeyeshewa on Chief ( Mrs ) Yewande Green, Chief Executive Officer , YeGren International Tourism Service.
Chief (Mrs ) Green was one of the 21 Chiefs who were constituted as the 15 Are Ona Kakanfo Council of Chiefs on Saturday, 12 January , 2019 in Lagos.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo, while installing Mrs Green as a chief disclosed: “This chieftaincy title of Yeyeshewa is being bestowed on you, Yewande Green, because of your tremendous and inestimable contribution and efforts you have been injecting in promoting the pristine Yoruba cultural tourism in Ghana and the West Coast . I am impressed by your stride at keeping the Yoruba cultural flame burning and shining brilliantly among the Yoruba in the West Coast. Your activities are in tandem with the new spirit of the Yoruba cultural rejuvenation being preached by the Alaafin of Oyo. The value and beauty which you have added to the cultural –tourism status of Yoruba land, particularly in Ghana where you are based, cannot be measured in terms of gold and money.
‘‘You have greatly contributed to the promotion of Yoruba culture via your Yoruba cultural shows, seminars and conferences which your organise periodically, the hosting of Yoruba Beauty Pageant and organisation of Conference of All Yoruba in Ghana. You are a value added to the culture of the Yoruba nation , hence the title Yeyeshewa.’’
Chief Adams also revealed: “You are the lady who initiated the move for me to become the Aare Ona kakanfo when you compiled my cultural activities all over the world via, Oodua Progressive Union, (OPU) and my agitations for Yoruba land via Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC). You started it all and it will amount to be an ingrate if I failed to honour you for your cultural patriotism and foresight.’’
Chief (Mrs) Green, in her response:said, “ I am grateful to the Alaafin of Oyo, Iku baba yeye , Oba Lamidi Atanda Adeyemi III, for his rare wisdom and divine sense of reasoning. He is an enigma who listens to both terrestrial and extraterrestrial beings. I also thank the Aare Ona kakanfo for deeming me fit for this title . I see this title as a tonic and a stimulant for me to push with more vigour in the course of Yourba cultural rejuvenation.”
