A few days ago, some people took their anger and frustration a step further when they visited the nation’s capital territory and demanded that the president must resign having spent over three months outside the country as a result of his illness.
Taking the drama further, another group came out, protesting that the president must be allowed to be, since he did what the constitution mandated him. They argued that he transferred power to his vice president, as a result of which governance has been running as it should.
But the fact remains that the health of the president can be said to be largely tied to the wellbeing of the nation. Nigeria must do all in its power to build good health facilities across the nation. These facilities should be built in a manner that can address many of the health needs arising from members of the country.
The huge amounts of money spent on health tourism to other parts of the world should be addressed. This is very important. It appears to many of us that the sabotage in our health sector is carried out by some people who are diverting illegal funds meant to build the nation’s health sector. Every citizen has a right to better health access which should be one of the obligations to be met by all levels of government in the country.
The process to building a better country starts with everybody. The president must be prayed for and we must all rally round him.
