SOSUTH: NUJ commends contractors on quality of job

The Nigerian Union of Journalist Sokoto State Council has commended Contractors handling the construction of Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital (SOSUTH), in the Kasarawa area of the metropolis for maintaining a quality standard.

The Chairman of the council, Comrade Isa Abubakar Shuni, stated this while addressing newsmen shortly after leading members of the council to the site of the construction, on Wednesday.

He admonished the contractor, Cedar Construction Company and its architectural counterpart, Dotlime architect, not to compromise quality on the project for the benefit of the residents.

Shuni further called on the state government not to renege on its agreement by continuing to make funds available not only for the teaching hospital project but also other ongoing projects across the state.

Earlier in its remarks, the construction company in charge of Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital (SOSUTH), has assured that the project will be delivered before the time frame agreed upon with the state government.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Cedar Construction Company limited, Engineer Umar Yahya, when members of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Sokoto State chapter went there on inspection, on Wednesday, explained that the project which is made up of 30 different structures is currently at about fifty per cent completion period eight months into the commencement of the country projects.

He said the construction period agreed with the state government remains thirty months.

Talking about the quality of work, Yahya reassured that the firm which is an indigenous company will not compromise the quality of work even despite the high cost of materials.

He maintained that going by the speed of work currently going on at the site, Umar assured that the Teaching Hospital will be ready for commissioning by next year.
