A former Governor of Sokoto state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and others, have donated N 1,080,000 million to the forty-three graduands of Madarassatul Dangaladima Monde Islamiyya School, Wamakko, Sokoto State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani and issued to newsmen in Sokoto.
Out of the amount, Senator Wamakko donated N500,000, All Progressives Congress ( APC), Gubernatorial Candidate, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, donated N 215,000, while a former Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, donated N 100,000.
Similarly, the member of the House of Representatives, representing Wamakko and Kware Federal Constituency, Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina, donated N 215,000, while his colleague representing Sokoto North and Sokoto South Federal Constituency, Alhaji Bala Hassan donated N 50,000 and forty-three wrappers.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council and Katukan Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, pledged to settle the one-year registration fees of three hundred indigent students of the school.
The statement added that Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District and also chairs the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, has donated five motorcycles to the male teachers of the institution, fifty wrappers and fifty copies of the Holy Qur’an .
He has also promised to construct the needed additional structures in the school, to enable it to meet its new standard of a Junior Secondary School as it was recently upgraded to by the State Board for Arabic and Islamic Education.
The statement explained that each of the forty-three graduands who were all females, got N 20,000, a wrapper and a copy of the Glorious Qur’an .
Similarly, each of the seven female teachers was given N 10,000, a copy of the Holy Qur’an and a wrapper, while each of the five male teachers got N10,000, a motorcycle, a wrapper, five yards of guinea brocade and a copy of the Holy Qur’an.
Speaking at the event, Senator Wamakko who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), of the Institution underscored the importance of both western and Islamic Education and pledged to continue to routinely assist in its running.
A BOT member of the school and District Head of Gedawa, Wamakko Local Government of the state, Alhaji Buba Dangaladima Wamakko, lauded Senator Wamakko for his sustained, invaluable contributions to the school.
The Headmaster of the school, Alhaji Usman Shehu, recalled that the school was established about six years ago with only seven students, but now it boasts of over five hundred students.
In separate lectures, two Islamic Preachers, Dr Jabir Sani Mai Hula and Sheikh Dangande Wamakko, admonished parents and guardians to accord top priority to the education of their children, as well as wards.
