The National All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Centre has expressed its endorsement for Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin for the positions of Senate Presidency and Deputy Senate Presidency, respectively.
The Convener of the Group, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar, while briefing journalists on Saturday in collaboration with other APC support groups, highlighted the impressive performance of Senator Akpabio and Senator Barau in their previous national assignments.
Dr Abubakar emphasized that Senator Akpabio’s extensive leadership experience and notable achievements in serving Akwa Ibom State make him a suitable candidate for the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 10th Assembly.
He mentioned Senator Akpabio’s past roles as the commissioner for petroleum and natural resources, commissioner for Local Government chieftain affairs, and Chairman of the governor’s forum.
Regarding Senator Barau, Dr Abubakar commended his passion for good governance and dedication to serving his constituents. He highlighted Senator Barau’s previous positions as a House of Representatives member representing the Tarauni Federal constituency, Kano state, as well as his role as a senator representing Kano North Senatorial district.
Dr Abubakar emphasized that Senator Barau’s commitment to his people and his legislative experience make him well-suited for the position of Deputy Senate President.
Dr Abubakar emphasized that based on their legislative experiences, Senator Akpabio and Senator Barau are highly qualified for the positions of Senate President and Deputy Senate President for the 10th National Assembly.
“On this basis, we are here to declare our deep support, and we are fully behind your bid, working diligently behind the scenes through our constituency, our Senators, and Presidential support towards this task,” he added.
He called on all Senators to give the South-South region a chance to lead the Senate for the first time, stating that Senator Akpabio possesses the necessary knowledge and experience for the job.
