In attendance at the meeting were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari; and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd).
Others government officials who attended were the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Mansur Dan-Ali; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, and the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), among others.
The agenda of the meeting was not known as there was no briefing of the media at the end.
However, the president in a tweet said later that his administration was determined to implement carefully considered solutions that would earn the confidence of Nigerians.
