The protesters under the aegis of “Save PDP Group,” had commenced their action, on Monday carrying placards of different inscriptions some of which read: “PDP is bigger than Secondus,” “Resign Now Mr Chairman,” “Secondus must go,” “Who are you working for to destroy PDP?”
Today, they re-mobilised in larger numbers, and at first gathered at the main gate of the secretariat where their leaders addressed them before embarking on a march along Dalaba Street in the Wuse Zone 5 area hosting the Wadata Plaza edifice of the PDP.
Just as they dispersed, another group sympathetic to Secondus stormed the party office calling for four more years for the party boss whose tenure expires in December.
They bore placards lauding his success in the office including initially midwifing the return to PDP of Adamawa, Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Imo and the Edo States.
The protests came as the Board of Trustees (BoT) was scheduled to kick off its meeting at 2 pm to deliberate on the leadership crisis engulfing the main opposition party.
The governors elected under the party had also resumed their meeting which was adjourned from Monday.
Today, they are meeting with the National Assembly Caucus of the party, which has been speaking in discordant tunes over the move to remove Secondus.
