National Chairman, Allied People’s Movement (APM), Yusuf Dantalle, has called on members of the National Assembly (NASS) to ensure that the will of Nigerians and the electorate are respected at all times, for a peaceful Nigeria.
Dantalle said Nigeria was currently in a security mess because of the failure of politicians who ensured justice was not pursued on all matters in the country.
The national chairman of APM spoke exclusively with the Nigerian Tribune at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja, urged that the legislature which has been saddled with the responsibility of cleaning up the Electoral Act amendment bill should ensure that the bill reflects the wishes of Nigerians, for an electronic voting and electronic transfer of results, to guarantee transparency in the election process.
He said when leaders are responsible to the people such class of leaders do the bidding of the people, even take painful decisions, that will in the long run demonstrate justice to the people.
He argued that selfish decisions are made for limited times and the perpetrators of such injustices become victims of the same.
“We should understand that as a politician and political manager, you do not remain in power forever. Today, you are a member of the in-group, some other people are members of the out-group, someday, that person would be in and you will be out.
“If today, you take a decision that favours, you do not expect the decision to favour you when you are out there.
“So many persons took the ill-informed decisions that favoured them, when they were in power, today they are no longer in power and they are the same persons suffering from that poor decision that was not in their favour outside the office,” he told Nigerian Tribune exclusively.
He noted that such a decision was responsible for the insecurity in the country and politicians should desist from it.
Dantalle told the Nigerian Tribune that “a lot of persons have come out to say the insecurity in Nigeria has a lot of political undertones, are trying to mention names but the implication of proving their case beyond a reasonable doubt before courts of law.
“They cannot do that because the sponsors are powerful men but they have the facts, a lot of persons do have the facts but fear the repercussion. You even see videos of terrorists saying the politicians are sponsoring it.
“A lot of victims that were kidnapped will tell you, that there are bigger vehicles that come to their kidnappers’ den to collect something or to give them something in the night but they are handicapped,” he pointed to the Nigerian Tribune.
He said until all Nigerians irrespective of status remained below the Nigerian Constitution which guarantees rule of law, injustices would continually breed hopelessness and security challenges.
The chairman of APM said the situation, threatens food security in Nigeria as farmers are uncertain of their safety, in the farm area due to insecurity.
