The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has thrown his weight behind the forthcoming Nigeria Carnival slated for July 25 in Maryland, United States of America.
The Emir, according to the Chief Executive Officer of the event, Benson Akinkuebi has been specifically chosen after due consideration of the main thrust of the Kano emirate which is Arts, Culture and Tourism and unequalled commitment to the advancement of cultural tourism activities.
He revealed that the Emir is going to be the guest speaker at the event and will be speaking on the theme for this year’s carnival, “Our language, our culture, our identity”
In a special message to the organiser of the event, the Emir promised to personally attend the event with full complement of the Kano Emirate traditional council. “It gives us an opportunity to showcase our Arts, tradition, culture and tourism,” he was quoted to have said
Also the Olubadan of Ibadan is expected to deliver the exhibition lecture for the carnival at Freedom Park, old prison ground, hospital road, Victoria Island, Lagos on April 8.
For the Chief Executive Officer of the event, Akinkuebi, he said the Olubadan of Ibadan has agreed to deliver a paper on ‘Our Language’ at the pre-carnival exhibition slated for Lagos, where crème de la crème in the society are expected including diplomatic corps of various embassies in the country.
“It is our best interest to acquaint Nigerians with the contents and modalities of this intent tailored event aimed at promoting our rich heritage. Nigeria Carnival in USA is an effective cultural diplomatic tool which content, design and programmes parade dynamic and unique elements to inform, inspire, integrate, educate and empower and equally fashioned to facilitate relationship building and unification of cultures for Nigerians in Diaspora,” he informed
