The joy of the people of Ogijo community in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State knew no bound on Wednesday, as the Royal Initiative for Development of Sagamu Community (RIDSCo) in collaboration with Larfarge Cement donated a well equipped primary health centre to the residents of Afisuru area of the boundary town between Ogun and Lagos State.
The group, which is saddled with spearheading of development of Sagamu communities, also on the same day inaugurated for use, medical facilities and furniture donated to the Sagamu Primary Health Centre, Sotubo as well as three concrete culverts built at Ogijo to help control the flooding problem.
Speaking during the commissioning, the chairman of RIDSCo, Chief Michael Oyedele said that the group remained committed to prioritising projects that would enhance the quality of living and make life good for the residents of communities in Sagamu, notwithstanding the location of such communities.
Oyedele said that the projects were made possible with the support of Lafarge Cement who made available the funds for the projects.
The industrialist charged staff of the health centres to make judicious use of all the medical facilities and remain dedicated to giving prompt and adequate care to the people making use of the health centres.
Oyedele was full of commendation for Lafarge Cement for being a dependable ally in advancing the development of communities in Sagamu, urging others to take a cue from the company’s example of corporate social responsibility.
Speaking on behalf of Larfarge Cement, Mr Ezekiel Obasanya, said the partnership with RIDSCo was in line with the company’s policy of making life more enjoyable for all, promising that the company would continue to engage in partnerships that brings smiles to the faces of Nigerians.
The chairman of Community Development Council, Everlasting Area, Ogijo, Honourable Ademola Adenuga said that it was with great excitement the residents witnessed the speedy completion and commissioning of the centre which was started in 2012.
Adenuga said the community was happy that RIDSCo, with the support of Lafarge, had come to their rescue with the completion and furnishing of the health centre.
He said the intervention would improve the quality of healthcare available for the residents of the community.
While thanking RIDSCo and Lafarge for the gesture, Ademola equally requested the assistance of the group and that of the government in providing more medical staff, befitting ambulance, electricity, computers among others for the smooth operation of the health centre.
Speaking on behalf of Sagamu Local Government, Mrs Adelani Busirat Bolanle said the government appreciated the gesture and would surely ensure the facilities are well taken care of so as not to defeat the purpose they were meant to serve.
