Names of 50 high profile Nigerians directly affected by Executive Order 6 (EO6) placing them on security watch list and restricted by the Federal Government from leaving the country pending the determination of their cases, have now been revealed.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, but did not mention the names of the affected Nigerians.
Shehu, in his statement said government’s action followed the instant judicial affirmation of the constitutionality and legality of the EO6,
He said already President Muhammadu Buhari had mandated the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to implement the Order in full force.
“To this end, a number of enforcement procedures are currently in place by which the Nigeria Immigration Service and other security agencies have placed no fewer than 50 high profile persons directly affected by EO6 on watch-list and restricted them from leaving the county pending the determination of their cases.
“Also, the financial transactions of these persons of interest are being monitored by the relevant agencies to ensure that the assets are not dissipated and such persons do not interfere with, nor howsoever corrupt the investigation and litigation processes.
“It is instructive to note that EO6 was specifically directed to relevant law enforcement agencies to ensure that all assets within a minimum value of N50 million or equivalent, subject to investigation or litigation are protected from dissipation by employing all available lawful means, pending the final determination of any corruption-related matter,’’ Shehu added.
Shehu said the Buhari administration had reassured all well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians of its commitment to the fight against corruption, in accordance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the general principles of the Rule of Law.
He, therefore, maintained that the administration would uphold the rule of law in all its actions as well as protect the right of citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution.
“We, therefore, enjoin all Nigerians to cooperate with the law enforcement authorities towards ensuring a successful implementation of the Executive Order 6 which is a paradigm-changing policy of the Federal Government in the fight against corruption,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, according to findings, those on the travel ban and watch list of the Federal Government are mostly former public officials who have pending corruption cases against them, among whom are 13 former governors and seven former ministers.
In the Executive Order No. 6 issued by President Muhammadu Buhari, the restriction placed on the 50 Nigerians, the FG said, followed the judicial affirmation of the constitutionality and legality of the order.
The watch-list and restriction, it said were put in place pending the conclusion of the cases against those affected.
According to findings, the former governors barred from leaving the country are: Saminu Turaki (Jigawa), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Adebayo Alao-Akala (Oyo), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Rasheed Ladoja (Oyo), Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), Danjuma Goje (Gombe), Attahiru Bafarawa (Sokoto), Muazu Babangida Aliyu (Niger); Chimaroke Nnamani (Enugu); Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Gbenga Daniel (Ogun); and Ibrahim Shehu Shema (Katsina), who all belong to both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The travel ban also affected retired Colonel Samo Dasuki, a former National Security Adviser, two female former ministers, Nenadi Usman and Jumoke Akinjide, while Bashir Yuguda, Bala Mohammed; Abba Moro; Femi Fani-Kayode; and Ahmadu Fintiri are also affected with the travel ban.
Others on the list include a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh; ex- Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral A. D. Jibrin; a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar; a former Inspector-General of Police, Sunday Ehindero; and a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu; Chairman Emeritus of AIT/ Raypower, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi; Waripamowei Dudafa (a former Special Assistant (Domestic) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan); a former Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Innocent Umezulike; a former judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia.

Very soon, Buhari will ban people from walking on the streets…
He wants to intimidate PDP members from funding their party’s campaign in 2019 election. Everything about Buhari is fraud and dictatorial. The ban should also extend to those wasting our meager resources on medical tourism to London, including how much those that stayed 103 days in London spent in treating unknown terminal illness on Nigerian peoples’ tax money. The only problem here is the intellectual capacity of the mind that would compile that list. If it is going to be done by Buhari, as it is likely to be, then the whole country is in trouble. How can anyone trust Buhari with that kind of job? If he could declare THAT ABACHA was not corrupt, your guess would be as good as mine! Don’t be surprised if you find pastor Oyedepo, Atiku, Obj, Peter Obj, Father Kuka, etc. on that list. While Tinunbu, Amechi, Buhari himself, Babachir, Buruntai, Maina, Abba Kyari, orji kalu, Akpabio, Oshiomole etc. would be missing. Buhari is nepotism personified. We must brace up for this full blown fascism. My PVC is ready. (PERSONAL VENDETTA CARD)

Gr8 implications is if any foreign partners of dis pple hear this, most of them will restrict doing any thing with the whole country. PMB thinks he’s doing mush good to this country with out knowing he’s creating more damages
Lifeless dictator has done it again!!!!
Nawa for buhari ooo
The travel ban placed on some corrupt individuals by PMB is very strategic.
Over time, corrupt cases lingers for long in courts over the application by defendants to courts to allow them travel for medical reason when in actual fact they are very okay.
They capitalise on the loopholes in our laws to ask for permission to travel abroad in order to waste the time of the courts, after arriving from almost 3 months of Medical travel, they will ask for another adjournment thereby wasting the time of the courts.
Example is chief orji Kalu who is facing corruption charges, he applied to travel to Germany for medical reasons only for him to be seen in Minna meeting IBB to support PMB’S re-election.
PMB does not give a damn on you, his name was included in the list of the 50 nigerians prohibited from travelling abroad.
As if only that your PVC will decide for every other PVC’s holders. I don’t oppose your intakes but that does not stop what will happen comes 2019
Godwin, mind you we are not in a military regime that you should use the dam. If you know the proper meaning of democracy you would have use a better language.
Innocent Omerue that guy Godwin is a complete fool
Lool and you think the travel ban will speed up cases.
I agree it is strategic , and I also know that the Constitution doesn’t stop citizens from seeking medical help where they can get the best care seeing that our President is a beneficiary of such.
Welcome development
