Raise end-time army for Christ, church leaders told

Published by

Church leaders across the nation have been tasked to raise an end-time army for Christ to break the yoke of sin and death in the lives of men and make them ready to take over  all spheres of life, in order to prepare the world for the second coming of Christ.

Reverend Abraham Nandem Ayuba, said this during the 13th World Apostolic Leadership Development Summit Nigeria, tagged “I never  knew you, depart from me”, at the JOGOR Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State, organised by Faith Institute of Evangelism and Leadership Development, Ibadan.

He expressed concern over the dearth of effective leadership globally and the church in particular, adding that this underscored the formation of the leadership institute.

The cleric, who was the chairman on the occasion, urged leaders not to stop at just calling Christ the Saviour, “but to be doers of the will of the Father in heaven,” adding that a perverse generation had been raised during our time because of poor leadership.

In a lecture delivered by the Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa, through the Ibadan Diocesan Missioner, Venerable Johnson Bolanle Kehinde, said it is good to be known for great works, but our close walk with God and faithfulness matter most.

Akinfenwa urged Christians to pay attention to the cultivation of the characters of Christ.

“Therefore, let us resolve to be doers to the word, let us beware of people who only hear or preach the word, but are not doers of the word,” he said.

On his part, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, who discussed ‘Kingdom of Heaven our Glorious Home’, urged clerics not to be carried away by the successes recorded in their respective ministries, adding that when God is emphasising an issue, He will keep on repeating it.

Bamiloye specifically tasked clerics and other church stakeholders to repent from sinful acts, adding that there are many atrocities at the level of politics in the church of God.

“When Heaven filled your heart, there is nothing too big for you to surrender. It is not only the unbelievers that need to repent, it also involves clerics,” he added.

Also, Evangelist Niyi Adebayo, speaking on “building according to the pattern of the master,” said that everything and everybody created by God is a solution to a problem, adding that God will never change His plan, but can only change men.

He, however, identified principles of qualification, dispensability, specific direction, sacrificial commitment, and divine timing to realise God’s principles and pattern for Christian ministries.

Earlier, the president of the Institute, Reverend Harrison Dejo Akinsulie, had thanked God for stemming the tide of COVID-19 in the country which allowed the programme to take place.

He said that since the inception of the summit in 2013, testimonies of participants have been encouraging and advised participants to make proper use of the summit.
