The Forum of States Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Friday described the purported suspension of the National Chairman, Dr Olu Agunloye as illegal and laughable by a group of impostors.
This was contained in a statement signed by the trio of Abubakar Dogara, Chairman Forum of SDP Chairmen, Hon Wellington Odiong, Secretary Forum of SDP Chairmen and Amb Oke Idawene, Leader of the Forum respectively.
The Forum urged the legitimate members of the party and the general public to disregard the purported suspension, saying that the people who made such statements were not members of the party, not to talk of being officials of the SDP.
According to the Forum, “they are rascals hired to distract the party as it’s so glaring that Nigerians have chosen SDP as an alternative political party to vote for in the next general elections.”
The statement reads, “our attention was drawn to a childish publication credited to the Ondo State chapter of our great party the SDP on the suspension of our National Chairman, Dr Olu Agunloye by some attention seekers. The NWC is focused and does not have time for such shenanigans and desperados.
“Moreover, SDP has important activities to attend to, regarding strengthening the party such as implementation of our last NEC resolutions, sales of nomination forms to Aspirants and Congresses all in line with the Electoral Act, INEC guidelines and the party constitution.
“The legitimate members of the party and the general public are advised to disregard the publication in question. The people who made such statements are not members of our great party, not to talk of being officials of the SDP. They are rascals hired to distract the party as it’s so glaring that Nigerians have chosen SDP as an alternative political party to vote for in the next general elections.
“The official Social Democratic Party SDP is intact and very law-abiding. The constitution of the party 2018 as amended has its provisions on the processes of suspension and or expulsion of SDP financial and a legitimate member from the party.
“And from the book of records available to the party, those miscreants are no more members of the SDP if ever been. The newly elected officials of the party in ONDO State are directed to continue with the good work of mobilizing people into the party and should not be distracted.”
