I have been having catarrh and blocked nose for the past six months. My family doctor called it Sinusitis and prescribed some medications only for the problem to keep coming and going. Please help.

Causes of sinusitis include nasal allergies, infections, and structural problems in the nasal cavity. Allergic reactions occur when the body overreacts to a foreign substance, such as dust, pollen, or mold spores while infections can both be viral and bacterial in nature. Nasal allergies, such as hay fever, are another common cause of sinusitis. Structural problems in the nasal cavity, such as a deviated septum (a condition in which the dividing wall between the nostrils is not straight) or the presence of nasal polyps (small, noncancerous growths), can also block the sinuses and lead to inflammation. Treatment after proper medical examination is usually targeted at the cause of the problem.
