A total of sixty-four suspects were arrested in Asaba, Delta State when policemen raided black spots and criminal hideouts which include uncompleted buildings and brothels.
Similarly, fifty bikes that contravened the existing state order banning motorcycles in some parts of the state were also impounded.
The police public relations officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement, on Wednesday, disclosed that eighty tricycles (KEKE) which also contravened the state government directives to stop working after 10 pm were also impounded.
According to the statement, one locally-made cut-to-size single barrel gun, one battle axe, one techno phone and twenty wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs were recovered from a tricycle in Asaba during a stop and search operation.
A patrol team had stopped the tricycle with reg. no ASB 144 WZ behind NTA Asaba on July 17, while two occupants jumped down and escaped into the bush abandoning the tricycle.
Also, detectives in the Oghara division had at Koko junction intercepted one 21year old Boytie Samuel and on interrogation confessed himself and others at large to be motorcycle snatchers.
The suspect, DSP Edafe said, later led police operatives to Koko junction where two unregistered motorcycles, one big Elema generator, Nissan Primera with reg No BEN 564 LT all suspected to have been stolen were recovered.
