Operatives of Owerri Urban Area Command Headquarters have arrested two suspected shop buglers simply identified as Usman Suleman of Kano and Mohammed Ibrahim of Zaria, Kaduna.
Their arrest came following a swift response to a distress call received from a concerned citizen on the 3rd of this month about hoodlums breaking into a shop at POWA’s Plaza, Rapour junction, Amakohia.Â
In a statement issued on Saturday in Owerri by the Police Command, Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, said that hoodlums took to their heels on sighting the Police following a hot chase that was given to them by the ever-gallant operatives.
The chase according to the PPRO resulted in the arrest of the suspects while others escaped to the nearby bush, abandoning most of the items stolen from the shop.
He assured that efforts are on top gear to arrest other fleeing suspects and make them face the full wrath of the law.
The Command’s spokesman said that items such as One Solar Panel, three damaged pad lucks, One big iron cutter, one Bar, one OX standing fan, two Sonik standing fans, One Gas Cylinder, and two MI + Bluetooth Speakers were recovered.
Others include One ElepaQ Generator, One Century 32 inches plasma TV, One 43 inches Hisense plasma TV, One Sonik Blender, One Philips Electric Kettle, One Boston Electric Kettle, One small Sonik Rechargeable fan, One Kami 20watts rechargeable bulb, One DC Rechargeable hand fan, One Kami Rechargeable bub, Four Touch Lights, One Generator Wires, Four Wheelbarrow trucks, and One Vivo Android Phone, valued over two million Naira.Â
Okoye said that the recovered items have been released on bond to the rightful owner, Mr. Idika Uchechukwu, while the suspects are currently undergoing a comprehensive investigation and will certainly have their day in Court.
However, the Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma has expressed words of appreciation for the timely information given to the Police.
He urged Imolites to take advantage of the Command’s emergency lines and report any suspicious person seen or clandestine activity observed within their vicinity as security is everybody’s business.Â
CP Danjuma affirmed that the arrest of the suspects underscores the Command’s steadfastness to clamp down on shop buglers and other criminally minded elements in the State. Â
He reiterated that the Command is committed to enhancing the overall safety and security of the State for economic growth and development.
