Sheikh Abdullahi Bala-Lau, renowned Islamic preacher and leader of an Islamic sect, ‘Izalatul Bidi’ah Wa Ikhamatis Sunnah’ (JIBWIS), has described the return of peace to the North-East sub region as an “invaluable gift by the Buhari administration that will be cherished for long”.
Bala-Lau told newsmen in Damaturu on Friday that for that gesture alone, people of the sub-region and Nigerians at large, owed it a duty to support the Federal Government in its effort at sustaining the hard-earned peace for the country to forge ahead.
“It is gratifying to see normalcy gradually returning to the North-East and people have re-engaged themselves in various socio-economic activities to rebuild their lives.”
“Every Nigerian has a role to play in ensuring the sustenance of peace and security across the country because development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.”
“As Muslims, we have strong faith in the efficacy of prayers; we will continue to pray for peace, security and development of the country,” he said.
He commended the Federal Government and the security forces for restoring peace in areas that grappled with security challenges across the country.
He also commended the Yobe government for partnering with the Federal Government and some non-governmental organizations to support displaced persons and other victims of insurgency in the state.
The News gency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the cleric, whose sect headquarters is based in Kaduna, was in Yobe for religious preaching and special prayers for peace to reign in the state, North East sub-region and Nigeria at large.
