Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner in the senatorial election, held on Saturday, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State
The Collation Officer, Dr Olorunshola Omodamirun, disclosed this at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ahoada East Local Government Area after collating results in 12 wards and 37 units of the local council.
According to a breakdown of the results, PDP had 4277, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) had 1435 votes.
According to a report, the APC chairman in the local government area, Mr Felix Ejechi, admitted that the exercise was free and fair, adding that members of his party failed to come out to vote.
The state Commissioner for Power and Energy, Mr Shedrack Ogbogu, who was a PDP agent at the election, said the party prepared to win
The Retuning Officer for Bonny State Constituency, Ekoma Francis, also announced the PDP candidate, Mr Abiye Pepple, as winner of the election for the state House of Assembly seat from the constituency.
According to him, the APC Candidate, Henry Amangi, polled 2330 while his PDP counterpart, Abiye Blessing, scored 6,610.
In Omuma Local Government Area, the INEC Returning Office, Mr Kingdom Walaka, said PDP won the House of Representatives with 6,100 votes, while APC scored 3,100.
The ruling party in the state also won the senatorial contest in Omuma, scoring 6,000 while APC had 3,050.
