OGUN State government has said that it will commence the payment of gratuities to retired civil servants in the state any moment from now, just as it awaits the official circular on the implementation of the removal of ceiling against HND holders in the public service of the state.
The state Head of Service, Elder Sola Adeyemi, disclosed this while defending the 2017 budget estimates for the Office of the Head of Service, Bureau of State Pension, Establishments and Training before members of the state House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
Adeyemi said arrangements were being finalised to commence the payment of the gratuities from late 2012, explaining that N9 billion had been proposed for the payment of pensions and gratuities in the next fiscal year.
Adeyemi, in a release signed by the Assembly Head of Information, Mr Jamiu Lawal, disclosed that his office would sustain the economic independence of 12, 840 state pensioners through functional pensioners’ data base system and biometric capturing; adding that his office would ensure blissful retirement for all state’s retirees.
In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mrs Bolaji Chokor, disclosed that the commission was committed to making the civil service in the state the best, especially in the discharge of its statutory functions next year.
