Parents of the sponsored students have commended Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin for sponsoring 70 students for postgraduate studies in India.

It be recalled that the parents made the commendations at the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, North West, Nigeria while bidding farewell to their children who departed for India via Ethiopian Airlines.

One of the parents Abdullahi Musa who was full of excitement, thanked Senator Jibrin for the opportunity given to his child to advance his studies abroad.

According to him, the opportunity given, was unexpected, saying, “I am so happy that my child secured this opportunity out of many Kano indigenes. May Allah continue to guide and protect Senator Barau Jibrin.

“For the children, I pray for their successful future.”

The scholarship programme is an education initiative of the Deputy Senate President under Barau I. Jibrin Foundation.

Also, another parent, a mother of Rakiya Sheriff said, “I’m so happy with Senator Barau Jibrin, my son applied for the scholarship online without knowing anybody or going to someone. So I’m excited and I pray to Allah to bless Senator Jibrin.”

Also, another parent Abdulqadir Sheriff who was delighted with the scholarship scheme thanked Senator Jibrin and urged the students to be committed and focus on their studies while in India.

However, while bidding them farewell at the Airport, Senator Jibrin presented them with some donations and urged them to make Kano and Nigeria proud.

Senator Jibrin added; “This initiative is part of my efforts to address existing educational gaps and fast-track our country’s development. Globally, human capital is the number one asset, and it is against this backdrop that we have taken this step.

The Deputy Senate President stated that “Our youths are our greatest asset, and we recognise the vital role of human capital in developing every nation; ours is not an exception.”

He emphasised the importance of education in developing human capital, particularly in the northern region.

He highlighted that the beneficiaries, comprising 65 males and five females from Kano State’s three senatorial districts, were selected based on merit.

However, some of the benefiting students interviewed promised to make a difference.
