AS factional chairmen emerged from state congresses of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) and the major opposition party, the People Democratic Party (PDP), a similar occurrence has also emerged in Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), with four chairmen at the various just concluded parallel party congresses of the party, held on Saturday, Kano State.
It will be recalled that virtually in most states of the federation, many factional chairmen emerged from both APC and PDPat some of the congresses held, which is now causing an internal crisis in these political parties.
However, the result revealed that parallel congresses of the party were held at different locations in Kano last Saturday evening.
It was gathered that the emergence of the four PRP Chairmen such as Sammani Sharu, Abdulmajid Tarauni, Muntari Zango, and Abba Sule Na Matazu was a result of power play between the former PRP Chairman in the state and other leaders from the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Alhaji Abba Sule Na Matazu said he was picked by consensus at their congress held at the Mambayya House Kano and pledged that his team would lead by example and work with everyone to strengthen the party.
The congress held at Mambayya House was conducted by a seven-member committee deployed from the PRP national headquarters and led by Ibrahim Sulaiman, who is the party’s National Administrative secretary and was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The new PRP Chairman, Alhaji Na Matazu said the congress also produced 16 others as members of the state executive council of APC by consensus.
The PRP National Administrative Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulaiman said the party only recognised the Congress held at a location approved by the party leadership which was Mambayya House.
