The Oyo State Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with a robbery incident and recovered a stolen motorcycle in the Olorunda Aba area of the state.
The arrest was made on December 25, 2025, after operatives of the Olorunda Aba Division responded to a distress call at about 10:30pm, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka.
The statement said the suspects, two in number, were riding an unregistered motorcycle and armed with machetes when they attacked two residents, Mutiu Adeyemo and Akinpelu Ojo, at Adanla Area, Eniosa, Olorunda Aba, and made away with their TVS motorcycle.
He added that upon sighting a police patrol team, the suspects attempted to escape with both their motorcycle and the stolen one.

“The second suspect, later identified as Sunday Onah, was successfully apprehended by the patrol team,” the statement added.
Preliminary investigation, according to the command, revealed that the arrested suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that he and his accomplice had been involved in similar criminal activities in the past.
“The stolen motorcycle was also successfully recovered and secured as an exhibit,” Olayinka said.
The police said a manhunt had been launched for the suspect who escaped, as detectives intensified investigations into the case.
“Upon the conclusion of investigation, the arrested suspect will be charged to court,” the statement noted.
Police said the suspect who escaped was being trailed, while investigation into the incident had been stepped up.
The statement added that the arrested suspect would be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Femi Haruna, praised the operatives involved in the operation for their professionalism, swift response and commitment to duty, and ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for comprehensive investigation.
He also commended the Inspector-General of Police for his purposeful leadership, strategic direction and sustained institutional support, noting that these had continued to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
The command reiterated its resolve to protect lives and property and called on members of the public to support the police by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
