The Oyo/Osun Area Customs Area Controller, Dr Ben Oramalugo, has charged personnel on the need to be disciplined, professional, and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
Comptroller Oramalugo gave the charge during the command’s first parade since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from the opportunity the parade provided for the Customs boss to further outline his vision and strategic goals for the command, it also provided a platform to foster camaraderie, inform officers of the various reforms being put in place by the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and reaffirm the commitment of the officers to the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.
According to a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune by the command’s spokesperson, Kayode Wey, Dr Oramalugo added that “as we embark on this journey together, it is imperative that we uphold the highest standards of integrity and service.
“Our mission is to facilitate legitimate trade, curb smuggling, and contribute to the economic growth of our nation. I am confident that, with your support and cooperation, we will achieve more remarkable success.”
The Comptroller highlighted several key initiatives aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the command, including intensified anti-smuggling operations, improved revenue collection mechanisms, and the adoption of modern technologies to streamline customs processes.
He also stressed the importance of continuous training and capacity building for officers to keep pace with global best practices.
The parade featured a ceremonial inspection of the officers by the Customs boss, followed by a demonstration of the command’s operational readiness and capabilities.
