TO reiterate his commitment and determination to contest the 2019 gubernatorial election in Oyo State, a former speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Dr Akin Onigbinde (SAN), who is one of the leading aspirants in the Alliance for Democracy (AD), at the weekend submitted his letter of intent to run for governorship to the party leaders during the Stakeholders Meeting of the party.
Dr Onigbindeās letter of intent was forwarded through his Ward Chairman after he concluded a tour of the 33 Local Government Areas and the Local Council Development Areas in Oyo State.
The letter of intent was delivered to the party executives and leaders led by the AD state chairman, Chief Michael Akinropo by the Director of the Akin Onigbinde Campaign Organisation, Mr Alphonso Olaniyan during the stakeholderās meeting attended by the partyās local government chairmen, secretaries, women leaders and elders from all local government Areas within Oyo state at the party Secretariat in Yemetu, Ibadan.
Speaking during the submission of the letter, Olaniyan stated that, the large turnout of people was to show the support and acceptance of the legal luminaryās vision to be the partyās flag bearer in the forthcoming gubernatorial poll.
The Director who was accompanied by the other members of the support group, expressed joy that the party could parade an individual with such pedigree, integrity and resume to contest the election and govern the state in 2019, expressing confidence that āthere is no better way to put the state in safe hands, other than working for the victory of the legal luminary at the next years general elections.ā
Alphonso noted that Onigbinde has proved himself over the years to be an astute manager of men and resources with the requisite experience that will be helpful in transforming the pacesetter state and restore its lost glory.

He added that the submission of the intent letter did not come until after due consultations with relevant party stakeholders during a tour of the all the wards across the 33 LGs in the state.
Representatives of other governorship aspirants were also at the meeting where seven members seeking election into both the House of Representative and State House of Assembly also declared their interest.
While accepting the letter, State party chairman, Chief Akinropo commended Onigbinde for following the laid down principles of the party, noting that the letter had been duly signed by the chairmen of the part at the ward and local government level and assures he will transmit same to the National Secretariat of the party.
Chief Akinropo, the party chairman expressed optimism that the party will regain the state it lost in 2003 in the forthcoming elections, adding that the calibre of people that wants to contest on the platform of the party is an indication of greater things to come.
