As August 31, marks the end of permanent voter’s card registration in the whole federation, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports activities Ebonyi State, Mr Charles Akpuenika, said over 70 per cent of Ebonyi youths have obtained their PVC, which was the effort of the ministry to increase in the percentage before the deadline.
The commissioner then assured that the ministry would continue the enlightenment campaigns after the deadline, to ensure that those who
registered to collect their PVC before the elections to elect credible leaders.
“We intensified our enlightenment campaign through the mass media, online platforms, workshops, seminars among others, to sensitize the
youths on the importance of obtaining the PVC,” he noted.
“We pushed for a paradigm shift from using them for political thuggery, violence and other forms of electoral malpractice to those who through their votes, would ensure the election of credible leaders.
“The state governor, Chief David Umahi has ensured the upliftment of youths’ wellbeing by ensuring they are elected and appointed into various positions of governance in the state.
“The renovation of the Pa Ngele Oruta stadium for instance, has provided sportsmen with the opportunity of training adequately and harnessing their skills which ultimately, has afforded the state and country, equitable representation in various regional, national and continental sporting events.”
