Published by

THE military high command on Thursday said a total of 24,059 terrorists and their families, comprising 5,326 adult males, 7,550 adult females and 11,183 children, surrendered to troops in the North-East between May 2021 and January 2022.

The Director of Defence Media Operations (DMO), Major-General Bernard Onyeuko, disclosed this at the bi-weekly briefing on the operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies, aimed at ending insurgent activities in the country.

Onyeuko, who has just been promoted to the rank of Major-General, pointed out that troops across different theatres demonstrated resilience and doggedness in the fight to reassert the authority of the state.

He added that all the terrorists had been properly profiled and handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary actions.
