In a determined effort to ensure reduction in the rate of out-of-school children in the North-East zone, the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) project sets to give Bauchi State a grant of the sum of 3 million US Dollars for development of the educational structure in the state.
The announcement of the grant was made by the team leader of the BESDA project, Professor Gidado Tahir when he led members of the project on a courtesy visit to Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed at Council Chamber of the Government House, Bauchi on Friday.
Professor Gidado Tahir explained that, the project is an initiative of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) aimed at supporting the selected states to address the menace of out-of-school children which is very alarming in the zone.
He said that members of the team were in Bauchi state to intimate the Governor of their activities and appeal to him to key into the project in order to enable it to reach the beneficiaries.

Gidado Tahir then requested Governor Bala Mohammed to invest more resources in the State’s education sector so as to ensure effective teaching and learning in schools, particularly at the foundation level which is key to societal development.
While responding, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government for supporting state governments to address the challenges facing the education sector in their respective states.
The Governor while pledging to comply with the project’s requirements, observed that the grant will assist his administration to find a lasting solution to the menace of out of school children in the state.
To this end, Governor Bala Mohammed directed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG)and the Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to work with members of the project for the success of the project in the state.
He assured that his administration will do everything humanly possible to reduce the rate of out-of-school children in the state, just as he declare that improving the standard of education is part of the priorities of his PDP-led administration.
