With the wheel of 2019 gradually grinding to a halt, the management of Smartphone brand, TECNO, said the company has been able to positively impact lives and truly identify with the passion of Nigerians, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, in the outgoing year.
Describing the outgoing year as a busy one for the company, in terms of CSR activities, the Public Relations and Strategic Manager, TECNO Nigeria, Mr Jesse Oguntimehin, expressed the delight that the brand was able to carry out most of its CSR activities, earmarked for the year, and which were aimed at enhancing the lives of the people in its operating environments.
“As 2019 gradually grinds to a halt, we are delighted that TECNO has accomplished all that they promised to do, especially in the CSR department. This has truly differentiated the brand, from others,” he said.
One of such CSR initiatives, Oguntimehin explained was the children-centred initiative, started in 2014, aimed at availing students in the public schools the opportunities of scholarship awards.
He added that the initiative, tagged, “Give the Nigerian child a future,” saw students from the Lagos axis, participating in an examination to select the best five students, from each of the schools, after which scholarships were awarded to the students through the TECNO Foundation.

“There was also a Children’s Day party that brought children from over 30 public schools together with fun and games, including series of gifts,” he said.
According to him, the smartphone brand also got involved in another Get-a-Nigerian-Through-School Project called AcadaFest Scholarship 2019, an initiative that saw the brand sponsor three deserving students for the duration of their university education.
“Like a soldier on a mission, TECNO joined forces with a few other sponsors to celebrate the musical legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. At the event, the smartphone brand made touchpoints with Nigerians by making the six-day event even more fun-filled.
“During the course of the festival, a Nigerian won a Spark 4, which was the latest device from the brand at the time, and there were also lots of gifts to be distributed,” he added.
He further said that the decision of the brand to support this year’s International Women’s Day was informed by the need to encourage gender balance around the world.
