AUTHORITES of the Nigeria Police, Osun State Command have arrested an Islamic cleric (alfa) over alleged killing of a 400-level Osun State University (UNIOSUN) student, identified as Oluwafemi Shonibare, who was declared missing by his colleagues on the June 26, 2017.
The decomposing corpse of the deceased, who was final year student of Microbiology Department of the institution found in a bush, located in Osogbo, the state capital.
TRIBUNE ONLINE authoritatively gathered that Shonibare’s decomposing body was found near the residence of the apprehended alfa, who led the Police to the bush where his body was retrieved.
Some students of UNIOSUN, who lives around Jafaria Street, Osogbo informed journalists that the alfa took the security agents to the bush, where the swollen body of Shonibare was discovered.
However, some close friends of the deceased, who could not control their emotions upon the discovery of his decomposing body were crying uncontrollably, lamenting that the life of the young aspiring student was cut short by evil doers for unknown reason.
When contacted over the development, Osun State Commissioner for Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye confirmed the development.
He said, “It is true that we have arrested one alfa in connection with the incident and investigation is already ongoing over the matter, saying his command would not give room for criminal or anybody, whosoever to disturb the peace of Osun or flout the law of the country.”
