NO fewer than 100 farmers in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have benefited from an empowerment programme designed to enhance agricultural productivity.

The initiative, implemented through the local government, aligns with the state’s agenda of strengthening the agricultural sector, increasing food production, and improving the livelihood of rural farmers across state.

Speaking during the distribution of farming inputs, Secretary of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Austin Eloka Ajufo, who represented the chairman, noted that the programme reflects the government’s recognition of agriculture as a pillar for economic stability, job creation, and sustainable development.

He said that supporting farmers with essential agricultural resources will help boost productivity, encourage greater participation in farming activities, and contribute to efforts aimed at making food more affordable for residents.

Beneficiaries drawn from various communities in the local government area received farming tools, agrochemicals, and other agricultural inputs intended to improve efficiency and address some of the challenges confronting farmers during the current farming season.

The empowerment programme underscores the ongoing efforts of the Oborevwori administration to promote grassroots development through strategic investments in agriculture and other key sectors.

The government has consistently emphasised the importance of agriculture in achieving food sufficiency, stimulating rural economies, and creating sustainable opportunities for citizens.

Responding, the farmers expressed appreciation for the support, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

They noted that the assistance will help reduce production costs, improve yields, and strengthen their farming operations.
