Oppositions coalition against APC, Adelabu will fail ― Group

A socio-political group sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Movement for Good Governance (MGG), has described the coalition being put together by the opposition party leaders as an indication that APC and its governorship candidate, Chief Bayo Adelabu, remain popular and will coast home to victory on March 9.

A statement signed by MGG’s chairman, Dr Samuel Babatunde and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, said APC and Adelabu were not bothered about the assembling coalition which it described as “very weak.”

“If anything, the alliance has made Adelabu more popular as the candidate other parties are striving hard to beat. It is an advantage for us. First, they have told the entire world that they are scared of APC and Adelabu’s candidature.

“So, each party can’t singlehandedly face APC and Adelabu. They can’t unseat APC in Oyo State and this much they have admitted by their coming together.

“We echo the scriptures and say to the opposition parties: “Associate and gird yourselves, ye shall be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, and it shall come to nothing; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

“APC already has two of the Senators-elect and 9 of 14 House of Representatives members-elect, just as the party is also firmly in charge of the government at the centre. Where does this then leave the alliance they are cooking? In the dustbin of history, I answer.

“It is even good they are coming together so they people of the state will have a streamlined choice of choosing between light, which APC represents, and darkness, which the coalition typifies,” Babatunde said.
