AT least one person has been reported killed while many others were injured when gunmen attacked travelers in Taraba State.
Confirming the incident to Channels Television via a telephone interview, the caretaker committee chairman of Wukari Local Government Area of the state, Daniel Grace, said the incident happened at about 7:00 p.m on Saturday, in Chedia, between Bantaje and Mahanga in Wukari LGA.
Daniel added that 10 other travelers were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination with all passengers and the driver’s phone carted away.
Also speaking, one of the drivers, Yunana Baba, who had four of his passengers abducted, revealed that he saw two vehicles, an 18-seater Toyota bus and a Hummer bus, packed by the roadside, and when he attempted to find out what the problem was, he had a gun pointed at him by a masked individual in military camouflage and asked to park.
Baba said: “I obeyed, parked, and was asked to lie on the ground with my passengers and they started asking for our phones, money and other valuables.

“Later, they aimed their flashlights on us and took four of my passengers on motorbikes to an unknown destination.
“They also took six others from the other two buses.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), David Misal, confirmed the incident to Channels Television via a telephone interview, insisting that efforts were in top gear to rescue the victims.
He said the police were collaborating with sister security agencies, vigilance group members as well as youths of the area to rescue the victims.
