The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill to regulate security, rearing and grazing of livestock and establishment of ranches in the state into law.
Apart from this, the House also passed into law two other bills, which include a law to provide for the management of funds accruing to the State Judiciary from the consolidated revenue fund.
According to the lawmakers, the bill is to ensure accountability, transparency, effective and efficient utilization of the funds and other matters connected therewith.
Others include bill for a law to eliminate violence in private and public life Prohibit all forms of violence against a person and provide for maximum and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders and other related matters.
The passage of these bills followed the submission of reports by the Chairmen, House Committees on the bills at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun.
The Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Mr Taofik Mohammed, said the bill on a law to regulate rearing and grazing of livestock would go a long way in preventing the destruction of farm crops.
Mohammed said apart from this, it will also help to put an end to frequent clashes between farmers and herders as well as ensure the growth of livestock farming in the state.
While presenting before the House the bill on prohibition of violence against person, the Chairman House Committee on gender-based, Hon. Akintomide Akinrogunde said the bills were in the best interest of all citizens of Ondo State.
Akinrogunde observed that the bill when passed into law will not only assist in eliminating violence against persons in public and private life but reduce attacks on women, children and other vulnerable persons.
He said the bill would not only enhance the security of women, children and vulnerable persons but also transform the state into safe haven as well as enhance prosecution.
After due consideration of the reports and inherent benefits to the state, the bills were unanimously passed into law.
