
OLU of Warri, His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, has stated that his blessing for politicians seeking elective positions is free and does not solicit pecuniary gains.
Ogiame made the affirmation on Tuesday at his Warri palace, Delta State while playing host to Irone Rita Begho, an All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Delta South Senatorial district.
The monarch, who described Solicitor Begho as qualified and competent looking at her CV, urged Itsekiri sons and daughters to return to develop their land, adding that the aspirant should be ready to slug it out with other qualified contestants.
“Your CV shows your competent and capable. All you need is my blessing. I don’t need your money. I’ll give you my blessing,” Ogiame averred.
Earlier, the aspirant, Irone Begho, a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, called for a paradigm shift in the development strategy of the Niger Delta given its enormous human and natural resources.
She stated that it was time to have a woman Senator “after more than 18 years of uninterrupted male domination in Delta South Senatorial district.

According to the youth developer in the area of drug abuse, she’s most qualified for the Senate seat because “the job is one that requires a good knowledge of the lawmaking processes, solid educational exposure, vast national and international contacts and deep love and loyalty to the Itsekiri.”
Begho, who arrived at the palace with her supporters, promised to collectively correct the massive infrastructural and human capacity development deficit in the district.
The former employee of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has a new APC defector, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and other male APC aspirants to contend with in the primaries.
