The Otileta Ruling House of Owu Abeokuta has nominated an Archbishop of Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Adegebmi Adewale, and six others as candidates to contest for the vacant stool of Olowu of Owu Abeokuta.
The Olowu stool became vacant last year December when Oba Adegboyega Dosumu joined his ancestors.
The ruling house was notified by the Abeokuta North Local Government to produce the next Olowu of Owu.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that 12 princes were screened by the ruling house across the five compounds that made up Otileta Ruling House.
Six out of the princes were shortlisted including Adewale from Ile Aderinoye; Princes Adelani Oladimeji from Ile Omo’le Efon; Matemilola Adelola from Ile Soke and Olatidoye Olaniyi from Soke.
Others are Princes Adeyanju Bakinson from Ile Otopo; Simeon Soyele from Ile Lumosa and Adesina Adelani from Ile Soke.
Information had it that the candidates were scored based on performances during the screening and interview sessions as no voting was done during the exercise.

The result was said to have favoured Adegbemi Adewale who scored 1,027 points and closely followed by Prince Adelani Oladimeji with 909 points and Prince Matemilola Adelola 886 points.
Others were Prince Olatidoye Olaniyi who scored 863 points; Prince Adeyanju Bakinson 862 points; Simeon Soyele, 827 points and Adesina Adelani, 801 points.
Prior to the screening and interview by the ruling house, the Abeokuta North Local Government, had in a Public Notice, Entitled: “Filing of Vacant Stool of Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta” and signed by the Secretary to the Local Government, Odusiji Kabiru Ayinla, directed the Otileta Ruling House to convene a meeting within 14 days from the date of the notice.
The Public Notice mandated the Otileta Ruling House to convene the meeting between March 2, 2022, and March 15, 2022.
The Public Notice was posted in strategic and conspicuous places in compounds that made Otileta Ruling House.
