The Ohimegye-Igu, Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, has assured that the unity, peace and development of Igu kingdom will remain his priority.
The traditional ruler renewed the commitment at ensuring oneness and togetherness of his people when he received in audience, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Umar, the member, representing Lokoja Kogi federal constituency, Honourable Suleiman Aguye, Commissioner for Water Resources, Yahaya Farouk, caretaker chairman, Lokoja Local Government Area of the state, Abdullahi Adamu, among other dignitaries who came to pay him a courtesy visit at KotonKarfe.
The traditional ruler said his major priority is to work towards the development of the kingdom, pointing out that efforts at empowering the people of his kingdom who are agrarian and fishermen in nature is also receiving the desired attention.
He promised robust collaboration with organisations and individuals who are committed to ensuring that the living standard of the people of his kingdom is uplifted.
While expressing gratitude to the speaker and others for the visit, he solicited more of government’s support to the kingdom towards improving infrastructure development and lauded the present administration for efforts in making life meaningful for the people of the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the Speaker, Honourable Umar, described the monarch as a bridge, expressed gratitude with the hands of fellowship he is extending to all indigenes of Igu kingdom towards ensuring peace and development.
The speaker called on the people to rally round the traditional ruler, saying meaningful and sustainable development can better be attained when the people work in unison.
In his remarks, the member representing Lokoja Kogi federal constituency, Honourable Aguye, restated his promises to ensure that the people of Kogi Local Government Area get what is due to them under his representation.
He disclosed that in the coming days, his lawmaking intervention as it relates to the people of his federal constituency will be visibly felt in the areas of empowerment and infrastructure.
