The Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), under the headship of its President-General, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu, has congratulated a son of Ogun State and frontline legal practitioner, Alhaji Hassan Taiwo Fajimite, on his election as the National President of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN).
A statement issued in Abeokuta and signed by the Secretary-General of the council, Alhaji Kamal’deen Akintunde, described Fajimite’s emergence as a moment of immense pride for Ogun State and a well-deserved recognition of his commitment to the defence of the fundamental rights of Muslims.
According to the statement, the council considers the election a highly merited milestone that reflects Fajimite’s longstanding dedication to justice, legal advocacy, and the advancement of Islam through purposeful service.
The OMC commended the newly elected MULAN president for bringing honour to Ogun State, noting that he has distinguished himself within the legal profession through his selfless da’wah activities and steadfast pursuit of justice.
“As a council, we are deeply proud to celebrate one of our very own. Alhaji Fajimite is a distinguished ambassador of the Gateway State whose monumental elevation to this national office is a well-deserved feat.
“He has personally and collectively undertaken several strategic legal battles to protect and project the interests of Islam. A prominent and recent testament to this is his gallant, pro bono role as the lead counsel representing the Muslim Parents of the University of Ibadan (UI) International School in their litigation against the school’s management over the constitutional right of female Muslim students to wear the Hijab,” the statement said.
The council expressed confidence in Fajimite’s ability to provide visionary leadership for MULAN, stating that his tenure is expected to usher in a new era of growth and strengthen the association’s role as a formidable legal institution and a proactive da’wah platform dedicated to defending the rights and interests of Muslims across Nigeria.
