The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, on Tuesday, has decried the proliferation of illegal arms and ammunition in circulation in the state.
The Police boss stated this while parading 35 suspects, at the Command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, that all residents in possession of the illegal arms and ammunition should surrender such within the next two weeks.
Ebrimson said the Command would embark on massive mop-up operations and arrest possessors of illegal arms and ammunition.
The CP said the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state while declaring war against rape.
Ebrimson called on residents of the state to support the Police in making the state a crime-free one.
He said the suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from rape, murder, armed robbery, among others, submitting that six different types of arms, 37 ammunition and assorted charms were recovered from the suspects.
