The Ogun State government has said the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations in the state remained the exclusive right of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps of Ogun State (TRACE), warning other agencies to desist from controlling traffic in the state.
In a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Justice, Dr Oluyemi Ayeni and made available to Sunday Tribune, the government said it observed that sundry agencies and persons “now engage and assume the responsibility for the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations.
“All persons and agencies, particularly those appointed by local governments and Local Council Development Authorities (LCDA) across the state should desist from any act of controlling traffic in any part of the state,” it added.
The government warned that any failure to heed to the directive will result in sanctions, inclusive of criminal prosecution of such persons.
