The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in last Saturday’s by-election for Remo Federal Constituency in Ogun State, Adesola Elegbeji, has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
She was declared winner after polling a total of 41,237 votes to defeat her close rival, Bolarinwa Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 14,324 votes.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Kazeem Bello, made the declaration of the at the Ikenne Collation Centre in Ogun State in the early hours of Sunday.

Bello said that Elegbeji satisfied all electoral requirements and therefore stood elected as the new representative of Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The Returning Officer explained that, at Ikenne Local Government, APC scored 10,227 while PDP got 5,595; at Remo North Local Government, APC garnered 8,053 while PDP had 992; and at Sagamu Local Government, APC won with 22,958 while PDP scored 7,737.
He said: “That Elegbeji Adesola Yetunde Ayoola of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
