The Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, has alleged the vandalism and stealing of property of the Benin/Owena River Basin Development Authority and reported the incident to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
Ogoga Adejimi Adu Alagbado told Professor Osinbajo, who paid him a courtesy visit in his palace, that there was allegedly the stripping and carting of the river basin authority’s property by and that this should be looked into.
According to the monarch, “it is disheartening that equipment meant to serve the agricultural needs of our people have been removed from the facility and taken to Asaba. The multi-million naira poultry facility that has been stripped and taken to the hometown of the current Managing Director of the river basin authority.”

He noted that “a huge amount had been spent on this project. We pray that your government assists us in reviving this massive project which is capable of being a motivator of the economic development of Ekiti State in agriculture and power sectors.”
Oba Adu charged the federal government to fund the Ogbese Dam project located at the boundary between Ise-Ekiti and Emure communities, which he said its budget was announced to have been approved by the government, last year.
He also called for the reviving of the Ogbese water project, saying “we pray that the government assists us in reviving this massive project which is capable of being a motivator of the economic development of Ekiti State in agriculture and power sectors.”
On the parlous state of the Ikere-Ado Ekiti road, which connects Ekiti and Ondo States, the Ogoga lauded the federal government for making provision for the rehabilitation of the road in the 2019 budget, saying it would be heart-warming if the road could be repaired.
The monarch told the Vice President that “the current state of the road is deplorable. We thank the federal government for making provision for this important road in this year’s budget and we hope there shall be executed as soon as possible.”
Vice President Osinbajo, while addressing the monarch had called on the people of the community to support the return of President Mohammed Buhari as president in the coming election, saying he had recorded achievements to earn him re-election.
Professor Osinbajo highlighted the Buhari administration’s achievements to include improved power supply, youth empowerment, provision of basic infrastructure across the country and promised that he would consolidate on the achievements if re-elected.
