Odewale-egbado community tasks Gov Dapo Abiodun on bad road
Residents of Odewale-egbado community area in Ogun state have called on the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun to come to their aid in fixing the road which has been there for 35 years.
They narrated their experiences as a result of the negative effect the state of the road had earned them.
An old woman who is a resident of the community, Mrs Orelope Ajayi lamented over no sales as people are running away from living in the area due to bad road.
Ajayi seeks the Immediate intervention of Ogun state government towards eliminating the haphazard nature of the road so as not to make them die of hunger.
“People are running away from making a living here. We are tired. We don’t know what to do. Our market is not selling. We find it difficult to eat. We trek all the way through because of this bad road.
“Please help us beg the government to assist us with the rehabilitation of the road. They should help us so we don’t die of hunger.
“I am an old woman but there is no one financing me except for the Almighty God.
“It is from the sales of these biscuits that I earn a living. However, when there is no one to come to buy it, how would I continue to make the living.
“That is why you need to come to our aid so that we don’t die of hunger,” Ajayi said.
A Commercial Driver, Jamiu Olaniyi noted an Increase in fare which stood at N200 due to the bad road.
Olaniyi appealed to the governor of the state to help them fix the road so that they won’t be able to inconvenient the residents of the area.
“We collect N200 from the passengers whenever it rains and that means we would take another route.
“Also, we collect N200 fare when we take this route because of the high level of the water especially when it rains.
“May the almighty God makes the current governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun come to our aid and save us from the hardship,” Jamiu said.
Another commercial driver, Segun Badmus enjoined government to approach the issue in another dimension.
“Help us tell the government to do the road because the suffering is too much.
“There was a time the General overseer of genesis global church said it wanted to fix the road but some of the people read another meaning to it,” Segun said.
A pensioner resident in the community, Comrade Ayinde Oloyede expressed gratitude to God and the genesis global church for always being there for the community.
Meanwhile, Ayinde noted that the community has not been getting the government’s assistance ever since he moved into the community for the past 22 years.
He said that the community suffers it at large in terms of increase in the price of goods and services offered.
The Comrade, therefore, made a compassionate appeal to Governor Dapo Abiodun to assist us in getting rid of all these mess we find ourselves.
Speaking also, The General Overseer, Genesis Global Church, Prophet Israel Oladele stated that the church and with the support of the residents have been grading the road, spending over N3.5m yearly.
He said that he is neither a youth leader nor a councillor but being a leader who recognizes the importance of the position as a seat of service is what propelled him towards calling the youths together to speak with a voice.
Israel, therefore, made appeal to the State government to assist them in fixing the road in order to alleviate the sufferings of the residents.
“We have been grading this road every year by ourselves through contribution but now we are tired because we spend nothing less than N3.5 to grade it.
“We have been complaining about trying our best to make it happen. I am not the youth leader and I am not the councillor. I just believe that as a leader, you should have the heart of service
“Personally, I have really spent a lot and sometimes, some of the landlords will donate to fill the road.
“I called some youths together to let us beg Ogun state Governor to come and assist us here.
“We vote and we are doing a whole lot to support him here.
“We have been begging people to support us but we believe God will do something about it,” Israel said.
