Governor Obiano made the call at a reception to commemorate the thirtieth wedding anniversary of Anambra state house of Assembly Speaker, Barrister, Mrs. Obianamma Rita Maduagwu and her husband Chief Hyacinth Maduagwu, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Parish, Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State.
The ceremony also marked the sixtieth birthday ceremony of Chief Hyacinth Maduagwu, (Husband).
According to Governor Obiano, a thirtieth wedding anniversary is what everyone aspires to experience, but it requires a lot of sacrifices, patience and perseverance.
Governor Obiano who commended the couple on their successful marriage anniversary said that the state Government was proud to be part of the auspicious occasion, describing the couple as a good example of a blissful marriage.
Earlier in a homily, the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke thanked God for the lives of the celebrants and enjoined Christians to always live a life of gratitude to God in any situation they find themselves in order to make a breakthrough in all their afflictions.
In her remarks, the Speaker, Barrister Rita Maduagwu described their union as thirty years of fruitful marriage and uncountable blessings of God, adding that the day was the happiest moment of her life.
While felicitating with the couple on their marriage anniversary, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, expressed gratitude to God for granting the couple the grace to live together for thirty years in good health.
The joy of the celebrants, knew no bounds as they walked to the Alter singing songs of joy to God for His mercies and blessings on their family.
Dignitaries who attended the event included the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremmadu, Deputy Governor, Dr. NKem Okeke, former Governor of the Central Bank, Professor Charles Soludo, Former Governor, Dame Virgie Etiaba, among others.
At the ceremony, the unveiling of the statue of the Speaker, Barrister Maduagwu erected at a junction in Ukpor was also highlighted in appreciation of her developmental accomplishments in the constituency.
