The National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Saturday, alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is the greatest election rigger in Nigeria.
Tinubu said this while addressing APC supporters at Teslim Balogun Stadium, who had, since the early hours of the day, gathered for the presidential campaign rally of the party with President Muhammadu Buhari and other party leaders in attendance.
Taking his turn to speak, Tinubu, cited an instance with a former president, the late Umaru Yar’Adua, reminding the crowd of the role Obasanjo played in the election that brought Yar’Adua to power.
Tinubu said, in 2003, when the G20 Group asked Umaru Yar’Adua of blessed memory, about what he was going to do with the elections in Nigeria, he said Yar’Adua replied: “The election that brought me as a President into this country is flawed, and I will reform it.”
“Is that not correct, who conducted that election?” Tinubu asked, to which the crowd chorused “Obasanjo,” and Tinubu continuing said, “Obasanjo is the greatest election rigger in this country, He is an expired milk… forget Obasanjo.”
Tinubu also blamed the erratic power situation in the country on Obasanjo, accusing him of failing to deliver on the power supply in the nation throughout his tenure as the country’s head.
“When Obasanjo came, we taught them that there was no other way to have business evolution and revolution in this country without steady power supply.
“I introduced independent generating power projects in Badagry. What did he do? He and Atiku opposed it. I went to court. Who was my lawyer in court? Yemi Osinbajo. I won in court and we started generating 300MW, the first state to do it,” Tinubu said.
