FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday, paid condolence visits to the families of the late Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi and Governor Seyi Makinde, who he described as the chief mourner.
Speaking at the Oyo governor’s office to wrap up his visit to the state, Obasanjo bemoaned that the state had lost two of its highest traditional rulers, within a short period of time.
He prayed God should grant eternal rest to the late Obas, while condoling with the state on the loss of its great traditional rulers.
Obasanjo’s first port of call for the day was the Popoyemoja, Ibadan family stead of the late Olubadan, at about 7.10am, where he was received by the wife of the late Olubadan, Olori Rasheedat Adetunji and other family members.
He described Oba Adetunji as a paramount ruler who lived for the service of humanity.
At about 10.40am, the former President was at the palace of the late Soun of Ogbomoso where he was received by the Oloris; eldest son of the late monarch, Dr Aderemi Oyewumi; the Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, Chief Sobalaje Otolorin who led other chiefs.
In Ogbomoso, Obasanjo rendered glowing tribute about the great personality of the late Soun.
Obasanjo wrapped up his trilogy of visits to the state at the Oyo governor’s office where he was received by the state deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan.
