THE Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has suspended two officers of the Corps over alleged possession of illegal petroleum products.
The affected officers who were recently arrested and paraded in Bayelsa State are: Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCI) Agah Utavie and Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCII) Angel S.K.
A statement on Thursday in Abuja by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Mr Emmanuel Okeh, said the Corps has set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the matter for proper action to be taken in line with the public service rules.
He said NSCDC as the lead agency in the protection of national assets and critical infrastructure of the Federation Government was dismayed with the alleged action of the officers.
“However, the affected personnel, Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCI) Agah Utavie and Assistant Superintendent of Corps (ASCII) Angel S.K. are hereby suspended from the service until investigations are concluded in this case.”
“The Corps helmsman is using this opportunity to warn officers and men of the Corps and all others with similar intentions to desist in their own interest as NSCDC is repositioned and ever ready to fulfil her core mandate for national development and will not tolerate any act of sabotage,” the statement said.
